Post Mastectomy
Fashions
A mastectomy is an emotionally and physically distressing event. Any woman who has had a mastectomy soon realizes that all sense of fashionable comfort is gone forever. Either you're wearing "the prosthesis" and are physically uncomfortable or you're not wearing "the prosthesis" and are uncomfortable with your appearance.
CCC Medical Equipment offers designer lines created specifically for women who have had a single or double mastectomy. The designs ensure that women no longer need to contend with the discomfort of wearing a bulky, heavy prosthesis that shifts within the pocket of the bra. These garments are lightweight, pull-over, one piece prosthesis free, and fashionable and may be worn with confidence to any social setting. Chose from camisoles, lace tops, swim wear, night wear, tank tops, or t-shirts created especially for women with mastectomy.
Statistics show that about 200,000 women in the U.S. are stricken with breast cancer each year and there are more than 2,000,000 breast cancer survivors in the United States alone. These garments offer all these survivors a chance to live in style.
Prosthesis
Every three minutes a case of breast cancer is diagnosed; every 13 minutes a woman dies from the disease.
The good news is that breast cancer-if diagnosed early-is highly treatable. Over two million breast cancer survivors are alive in the US, and many of them need a post-mastectomy fitting of forms and prostheses. Better fitting of breast prostheses and bras and achievement of longer term patient satisfaction both physically and psychologically is another vital area.
CCC Medical Equipment offers an attractively decorated separate room for fitting post-mastectomy patients and women patients requiring corset and spinal bracing features a soothing feminine ambience. Brenda Montgomery, a certified mastectomy fitter and orthotist, educates clients and touts her love of the patience to sit and listen.
Obtaining and maintaining certification is very important, it helps assure our patients...that we are professionals.
Most insurance plans follow Medicare guidelines, which include allowing two post-mastectomy bras every year and one prosthesis every two years. However, CCC Medical Equipment will assist in contacting insurance companies or third-party payers to determine coverage and needed authorization before scheduling an appointment.
